Here are 5 new makeup and skincare products you need right now

Updated on August 16 2017

August is the month where both fashion and beauty worlds are on the cusp of Fall/Winter 2017. For cosmetic junkies, this means new makeup to get your hands on.

There are hot drops aplenty, but the ones that have really piqued our interest this month are the big ones, like Marc Jacobs Beauty’s fall line. The main attraction is the all-new Eye-conic eyeshadow palettes (more down below), but the label will also grace Sephora’s shelves with new makeup brushes, and a coconut-based eyeshadow primer.

On the skincare frontier, Korean favourite, Dr Jart+, has brought out a whole new line focusing on tiger grass, also known as cica, to heal and soothe agitated skin.

There’s a lot to toss your coins at, so here are some of our favourite new makeup and skincare products to help you in the decision-making process.

Chanel Le Rouge Crayon de Couleur

Chanel has launched its all-new lip crayons, the Crayon de Couleur, and these are some of the most elegant we’ve seen. They come in 11 staple shades, mainly nudes, reds and pinks, making them ideal for daily wear. These crayons promise long-lasting wear, and despite their creamy formula, they do stay put for a decent amount of time while hydrating the lips — talk about a win-win. Just don’t expect them to be transfer-proof. A must-have shade is Rose Violine, a dusky mauve that’ll look stunning on all skin tones

S$50 each. Available at Chanel counters from 24 August.

Guerlain Abeille Youth Watery Oil

Guerlain has expanded its honey and royal jelly, or Abeille range with the new Youth Watery Oil. This oil comes infused with honey and royal jelly from the black bees in Ouessant, and combines the potency of a facial oil, serum and lotion into one. It’s a multi-tasker to use during rushed mornings to refresh and plumpen the skin. Just be wary if you have fragrance allergies, as this is a tad strong on the scent front.

S$145. Available at Guerlain counters.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Eye-conic Eyeshadow Palettes

Marc Jacobs Beauty has brought six new eyeshadow palettes to the brand. Each features four different shadow finishes — matte, satin, shimmer and metallic — that feel like velvet. When you encounter the palettes, you might be put off by the one bright metallic colour that stands out, but that was wholly Jacobs’ intention. He wanted to design a palette versatile enough for everyday wear, but could be adapted for drama when needed. Our favourite is Scandalust, a warm-toned medley of oranges, reds and pinks.

S$69. Available at Sephora from 16 August.

Diptyque L'eau Body Balm

With the new Diptyque body care series, The Fragrance Gestures, you can finally smell like that Diptyque candle you so adore. Its L’eau Body Balm is a deeply moisturising, fruity scent comprised of blackcurrant buds, mango butter, and rose. It’s more intense than your regular body lotion, making it ideal for people with drier skin.

S$120. Available at Escentials.

Dr Jart Cicapair Night Repair

Cica is a plant known as nature’s anti-inflammatory solution. Tigers in the wild rub their wounds against it for faster healing, and the people behind Dr Jart+ have harvested the power of the leaves to develop a range to soothe even the most aggravated of complexions. The Night Repair is a cooling gel-based sleeping mask that works wonders overnight, whether you’re having a rash or a breakout. It reduces redness, and over regular use, evens out your skin tone.

S$71. Available at Sephora.
