Alfresco 64 – A Chivas Bar

Alfresco 64 – A Chivas Bar, where to drink in Bangkok

lebua at State Tower’s sleek new sky bar, Alfresco 64, is the highest whisky bar in the world. In collaboration with Chivas Regal, the bar offers a wide selection of rare whiskies, including their very own The Chivas Exclusive lebua Blend. However, we’re most impressed with their series of gentle whisky cocktails. Refreshing and fragrant, their signature Cloud 64 is a creative concoction swirled with Chivas Regal 18 Year Old, Maraschino liqueur and fresh pomegranate. Intriguing new additions include whisky-spiked mango granita and Samurai Going Green, a smooth mix of Chivas Regal Mizunara, Midori liqueur, aloe vera, and matcha green tea, all topped with coconut foam.

Everyone loves to be in on a secret, which explains why speakeasies are more popular than ever. Tucked behind the Chinese restaurant named Ping’s, The Locker Room is the latest hidden bar in town. We don’t have the exact address, but that’s part of the fun of discovering a new hideaway, right? Here, you’ll find three sets of cocktails: past, present and future. Crafted by the esteemed bartender Hidetsugu Ueno, the ‘past’ features a selection of classic cocktails. ‘Present’ is designed by the World Class Country Winner Nick Wu, showcasing timeless recipes with a modern twist. Stirred with innovation, Ronnaporn “Neung” Kanivichaporn, co-founder of Backstage Cocktail Bar, is in charge of the ‘future’, conjuring the avant-garde creations. Do your best to find The Locker Room and try their storied sips.

Zuma Bangkok

Zuma Bangkok, where to drink in Bangkok

As it celebrates its fifth anniversary, Zuma Bangkok wants you to get into the spirit; in fact, all of five of their new cocktails actually. The latest additions also mark a proud new chapter in Zuma Bangkok’s history with the appointment of Pailin Sajjanit as the bar manager. A World Class Country Winner and the former bartender at Vesper and Il Fumo, Pailin reinvents some of our favourite concoctions and spices them up with Thai local flavours. Best paired with grilled meats, Daisen is a blend of Diplomatico reserva rum, yuzu sake, fresh lime and Demerara syrup. We particularly enjoyed Kirifuri, which is a refreshing sip swirled with Tanqueray gin, sake, hibiscus liqueur and jasmine.

Just A Drink (Maybe)

Just A Drink (Maybe), where to drink in Bangkok

Bangkok’s newest gin bar, Just A Drink (Maybe) is also hidden away in an alley in Thonglor. Besides a stylish selection of gin and tonics, the bar offers a variety of classic cocktails and homemade infusions as well. For August, they’ve released a new menu concept which is presented in four flavour quadrants: smooth, sweet, bitter and sour. Scoring high on smooth and sweet, the Kungfu Tofu is an interesting drink made with tofu-infused rum. On the other side of the spectrum, the Chiang Mai Elephant is Moscow Mule reinvented with earthy Thai ingredients.

Nowhere

Where to drink in Bangkok this August

Sitting atop the boutique THA City Loft Hotel, Nowhere is Ekkamai’s newest rooftop bar and restaurant. Offering a selection of innovative cocktails and tea mocktails, the bar has something for everyone to enjoy. We particularly enjoyed their signature cocktails such as the New York-style sour called When Snow Falls in New York, and Where Are You Tonight, a delicious mix of Amaretto, watermelon, basil and sumac.
